A penny saved is a penny earned

How is that?

Probably most of you have a box/jar/bottle etc where you keep those 1 & 2 cent coins. And in case you have no idea what to do with it – give it to me (just joking). No, I’ll just tell you what you can do with it. So…what if I say you can put them on your banking account?

Wow, I was really surprised when I had found out that it’s possible. BUT for this you need to be a client of Sparkasse (or to have a trustworthy friend that has an account there like I did).

Keep in mind, that not every city & not even every banking center can offer you such option. But we are lucky that Gießen has it ?

The SB-Center where you can do that is situated here: Johannesstraße 3, 35390 Gießen.

Let’s start our “tutorial”!

I’m gonna show how to do it.

This is this center ?

I was there when the bank was already closed, but that’s not a problem. Just put your card in this card reader machine next to the entrance.

Then you need to find the terminal that’s called  “Münzeinzahlung” (it will be on the right hand side when you enter the building if you go to the same center).

That’s how it looks closer.

After that you insert your card, of course you need to enter a PIN code. Then in the menu you need to press “Einzahlen” button.

Just pour in your coins into the socket that will open automatically on the right side of the machine. You’ll need to wait a little bit until all coins will be swallowed by this miracle device.

Then it will give you a receipt with the amount of money you have put on your account. Don’t forget your card & check the change reservoir (cause sometimes, if coins are not in the best condition the machine is not taking them). That’s it ?
